The “Hiraku Project” is conceived as a series of exhibitions introducing contemporary artworks by Pola Art Foundation Grant recipients. The exhibitions are to be held at the Atrium Gallery, recently established to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Pola Museum of Art. “Hiraku” translates as ‘open,’ in the sense of ‘responsive to new possibilities.’ We are pleased to present Iinuma Tamami’s Momentary Architecture as the fourth exhibition in our HIRAKU Project.
01 EXHIBITION SUMMARY
Iinuma Tamami’s prints and art books of her photos portray expressions of architectural structures and their surrounding space. She views architecture as an organic breathing presence capable of chronicling the accumulated memory of the flow of people and scenery in its proximity. This perspective allows her to produce profound photographs that express the atmosphere and memory, in addition to the structural beauty, of buildings.
Along with existing works, the exhibition features Iinuma’s newly produced works based on photographs from the Gora and Sengokuhara areas of Hakone. The exhibition also introduces an interactive installation work that allows viewers to alter scenery through the action of turning pages of a book.
