Masterpieces of the Pola Museum of Art Western Paintings
2018.07.22 — 2018.12.02
This exhibition introduces masterpieces of 19th and 20th century Western art in the Pola Museum of Art collection.
Nineteenth century Impressionist artists such as Monet and Renoir employed unprecedented bold brush strokes and bright colors. Following such innovations, Seurat and Signac created pointillist techniques based on scientific theory and inspired other artists seeking new directions.
With the start of the 20th century, the art scene became increasingly active. Matisse and Picasso created works manipulating color and shape freely. At the same time, École de Paris artists competed and developed their own distinctive modes of expression.
